Post by: Dickjotec on December 06, 2020, 02:04:25 PM
Hi,
Need 4x4 so thinking about Honda CRV or Toyota Rav 4 any comments or ideas.
Considered Range Rover etc but more than I really need also unfortunately not as reliable as Jap cars.

Update. All being well it is going again so not getting rid of it atm as it is so useful. I had decided on a replacement though, a Kia Sorento 2.5. Seems to tick all the boxes and gettable at a reasonable price.

They do look good.  Common rail.  Looks like the injection pump is driven off a chain under a front cover.  My only concern would be that the IP seems to be quite well buried under the inlet manifold on those, could be a pain to do the seals if it starts leaking.  Though that said this guy makes it look relatively straightforward: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpMSC515Vyc

Apart from the special tool that doesn’t look to bad. Getting the deli pump off is rather confined as well. Wonder how much of a pain it is to get back on.
