Title: Adam Pump replacement or repair
Post by: PD1 on November 17, 2020, 10:40:45 PM
Hi , I’ve got a new to me Golden Ray processor, used it a couple of times but the pump has started to leak , (it’s been noisy from the start) I removed the pump head and it does seem as though it’s a simple o ring that needs replacing , however I managed to loose a couple of vanes in the process , don’t ask how ! , so although I’m  Sure I could source a new o ring, I’m not sure the pump is going to be any good with two vanes missing , and because it’s noisy anyway I’ve been looking at replacing the pump , most pumps I’ve seen have have the inlet and outlet at right angles , but my pump a Adam pump PA600 has the inlet and outlet in a straight line , I would rather change it for the same to save replumbing the golden ray , any suggestions, I’ve seen one on eBay but the seller couldn’t confirm if the outlet diameter was 1” which is the size of the pipe work I already have.
Thanks in advance
Paul

There's lots of those vane pumps sold as self-priming fuel transfer pumps on eBay, they're all about the same dimensions (and all equally noisy).

Like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/60-70L-min-Electric-Oil-Diesel-Fuel-Transfer-Pump-Self-Priming-Machine-550W-220V/303759390583

Good pumps but as you say noisy little beggars.

Thanks for the reply , maybe mine is worth repairing if they are normally noisy, I’m sure I can find the replacement vanes around the garden!
I might have a go a fixing first , but the pump on eBay is exactly the same as the one I was looking at , would the threaded inlet and outlet likely to be the same as the Adam pump ?

The one that Tony mentioned is a transfer pump, filling tanks etc, don't know if it would be ok for mixing bio for up to 1 hour.

IIRC Julian has an extensive collection of pumps & pumpobilia. He might have something.

Thanks everyone, I’ve measured the o ring that is leaking and ordered a replacement, now to find the missing vanes !

I started out in the Bio game with a golden ray, but i removed the vane pump and replaced it with a Tam (now Bip) because it was way too noisy.
Both were 1inch bsp I think so was a straight swap (plus some extra pipework to sort out the bends)

Thanks for that I do have a spare pump that would need some pipe work remodelled, I just didn’t fancy moving it about , guess it wouldn’t be too bad to do , new seal has arrived for Adam pump so I’ll try that first
