Well, no more making bio to blend with the kero for the c/h
Just bought another 1000 litres of kero at 16.89p/litre. I remember the days when it was 70p/litre
-
Definitely a good time to buy when oil prices are so low. Shame you can't store 10,000l really.
-
Indeed Tony, the tank is full at 2500litres, I may consider an ibc full as well.
-
Thats quite a fall from its peak.
How much of your production was devoted to hesting oil?
-
Hi Nige, I didn't make much for the heating recently as we can now source free logs for our burner so only a little bio reqd for hot water.
It's just reassuring knowing the tank is full of kero that has cost very little.

Happy days then Dave. Good value kero & free timber..sorted.
I worry about oil when we are all back to "new normal" and the pubs are still shut.....mucho mileage with limited raw materials for our "recycling!"

I'm travelling a lot less what with working from home. The company has said that even if restrictions are lifted we should expect to be asked to stay working from home for the foreseeable future. Turns out we're quite good at it despite the scepticism from some of the traditionalist stalwarts that like to see bums in seats at the office! It's a trust thing.
Anyway, to the point - my main source of oil shut at the start of the pandemic, but still the takeaways running so a very limited amount of oil. But my main source is re-opening as a takeaway so expect that will ramp it up. I suspect a lot of small businesses will be feeling the financial urge to do something to keep cash flowing, so wouldn't be surprised if more start up again.
It's the little cafes and big pub and restaurant chains that I suspect won't be opening again any time soon - where their business doesn't easily translate into takeaway.

i had 400L in storage when lockdown started.
one of my collections closed and the other was a takeaway so i still had oil coming in.
just in case, i used the electric bike for work when the weather was nice.
i now have 350L to use by friday when the rexton goes to its new home and work is only 2.04 miles away.
so much for being careful. ::)

talking of working from home. our local pub and music venue is doing ok with zoom meetings. Friday night piss up and natter,Sunday night open mic. i know it's not the same but seems to keep everyone in touch. there are now 3 open mic sessions every week. just wish there was a way to improve the sound. tony any thoughts on this? i assume zoom priorities video over sound quality and bandwidth limit the audio?
-
Pretty sure all the teleconf apps bandwidth limit the audio, as they only expect it to be used for talking.
Their best bet is youtube live streaming:
