Bought my self a pressy today for the princely sum of £5.50. Borrowed the trailer this morning from a mate. When I picked it up he had a massive pile of logs in his yard, so I blagged a trailer full.
Picked the tank up only to find it was much larger that the guy advertised, so all the more sheet steel for the square processor project ... should I ever get time!

That's a nice size, very cubic - can you stand it on a corner or edge and use it directly as a processor?
If it were me I'd cut a corner out, put a bit of flat plate in then weld in a big nipple as a drain point, same on the opposite corner as a vapour takeoff.
Even if you never finished it as a processor it'd make a fabulous work of art :)

It's over 1000 litres, so no, I won't use it as is. But I never thought of cutting the corners off for pyramid bottoms ... lateral thinking, I like it! I'll investigate the possibilities, could save a lot of work.
I think this one will become settling and washing tanks. I already have a 400 litre Castrol oil tank which will most likely become the processor.

Well, I've investigated the possibilities and I'm a geometrically challenged tosser! Only three sides of a cube meet at a corner which would give me a triangular tank!
That's a really stupid idea, Tony.
-
That's better than just two sides!
-
I think you should call it The Toblerone. We can make up some fictional benefits about it better matching the tri-gylceride molecule shape and wind Jim up about how all his should be triangular as well!
-
Is it a cube?
If you stand it with one corner down (outlet) and the top opposite corner as the top ie two (3 sided )pyramids(cant remember the correct term) base to base,no problem draining and no moisture clinging to vertical sides, ideal shape,i think!

All really helpful ideas, thanks.
My shed is 6' square, the tank is 3' 7" cubed. The idea was to try and save space with square or rectangular section tanks and processor.
Anyone with any more bright ideas!

Yup make a triangular shed to put it in, that way no space gets wasted!

If you place your sense of humour in the exact centre of the pyramid it will be preserved by cosmic powers for future generations may their deity help them!
Alternatively get a bigger shed or buy a golden ray?
