Anyone got a 12volt, 0.5 bar pressure fuel pump they don't need before I go looking online?
I want to get my flame plug fitted.
-
I've got a 12v, think it was a Honda in tank petrol pump C/W filter. I've run it a little on bio with no obvious ill effects ... not sure of the pressure but it sprayed bio all over me and the garage when I dead ended it!
Should do you OK ... one supply pipe and a positive and negative and just lob it in the tank ... I think they like being immersed for cooling.
Your's for the cost of postage (unless you want to pick it up in which case I'll throw in tea and biscuits!)

Why don't you just plumb it into the blanked take off on the top of your fuel filter as per factory fit Chug? No need for separate tank or pump then.
-
Thanks Julian, but I need a pump that can mount on the bulkhead not an in tank kind.
Keef,
I want to be able to run the flame plug before I start cranking the starter, and the filter will only send fuel when engine is turning
-
Ah ok, I'm sure Greasemonkey ran his with just gravity feed from a small tank slightly higher than the plug.

Someone mention Flame Plugs?
I did indeed run mine from a tank, but it suffered noticeably from the lack of pressure. It was still very effective, mind.
I think, like me, Chug has a chassis/cab, and as far as I can tell, there is nowhere handy to mount the tank.
I had a bit of a cast around looking for a pump a while back, and didn't really come up with much.
Best thing I could think of was a facet pump, with an adjustable bypass, to regulate the flow and pressure.
I should really get and do it it over Xmas. Doesn't look like this winter is going to be too bad, but I've already had to have one runstart coz the batterys went flat. Would never have happened with a flame plug.
-
Chug, the pump I was going to use is from a Kubota engine (inline, bulkhead mounted), planed running a bypass setup as GM described.
I also have a 0.7L tank I brought for it.
Tell you what, you can have the flame plug I got from Vince, tank, pump, pipework and fittings, for £10 if you're interested.
Although I don't have all the pipework or a valve to throttle the flow, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem for you to sort.
Don't forget I still have those bearings for you.

The pump I would go and buy, would be this one.

I'm pretty sure it's identical to one I already use for pumping petrol into my machines. It's been very successful.
The one I actually bought has been de listed.

Cheers men, gonna have a play with it today and see what is what,
Mark, I'll let you know later if that is ok, and I have not forgot about the bearings and was planning on coming to you soon after the xmas greed fest, but maybe sooner if I decide to take up your offer
-
Mark I've left you a message on ya mobile with my telephone number, or text me and I'll ring ya back.
-
Met up with Chug today at my place, he now has another flame plug plus fuel tank, pipework, pump, M20 fine tap and a set of bearings for the crusher.
Good to see you as always mate.
-
Tidy.
-
Thank you Mark you are a diamond geezer and as always a pleasure to see you. 8)
-
How is the crusher build coming along Chug.
-
slowly as i haven't had much time, but things are slowing up and I will be quiet until the spring so I hope to get on with it as and when I can, but I think I've got most parts for frame and body and a couple of hefty shafts and now some bearings so gradually getting there, as with all my projects, like the flame plug I've had for months, once I decide its a priority it comes together quicker.

Likely to see it running at the BBB then.
