I know my Worcester would run on bio, would need a change of jet and pressure but i dont have a clue about this one, i do not accept returns! ;D
-
I've only got semi serious intentions of plumbing it into the heating (it's the volumes of bio it'll consume being one of the concerns), so if you have a definite use for it I'd be happy to pass on it.

Go for it Julian I want a bio boiler for the new 400 ltr plant I intend to build have been collecting parts for the last three years and have not
made a start on it yet plenty of time to find one in the next four or five years.

Bet that pleased the neighbors.

If the two Bio Burners don't take it, then can I be next on the list please?
I'm not too fussed if it burns bio or not, but I'd like another backup for my cave.
Should chuck in the back of my Piccasso not too bad?
There is no way I'm driving my Transit that sort of distance to pick that up. It took me three days to get some blood circulating around my legs the last time.

I've got gas so am clueless about oil / bio burning boilers.
How many litres would you use p.a. in a normal 1970's sort of 3 bedroom house?
Is it worth the trouble of making bio with oil & fuel prices at their current level?
-
Unless you have a real glut i would say no at 35 ppl
-
boiler looks like it may have an electro oil burner - any shots of the inside?
(im not a customer - just curious)
-
You really need free oil to make bio worthwhile to run the heating on. It need not be 100% converted and need not be de methed but needs to settle a while (weeks) to get most of the glyc to settle.
I get mine to over 90% converted and do the reaction totally at ambient and use a minimum of methanol so the cost of conversion is about 6ppl.
I then mix 50/50 with kerro. That way I don't have to be cleaning the burner tube out every month or so.
i've tried all sorts of ratio's of bio/wvo/kerro and they all work but if the blend gets too bio or wvo heavy it means cleaning the burner more often.
-
I run my boiler on B100 and generally get a good six months before cleaning the blast tube
But, I maintain the feed tank at 35C (as it is all palm biodiesel) which really seems to make a difference
I do aim for 100% conversion and I wash the fuel well before use
-
If GM has a use for it, I'm happy to duck out.
-
I've run mine on many different fuels and mixes and as Jules and Dave have both said, the viscosity of the fuel is quite critical if you don't want to be cleaning it out regularly, also it gets harder to fire up and get a good flame the thicker the fuel gets.
Dropping a burner nozzle size or two and upping the fuel pump pressure helps with thicker fuel.

Not that I am an expert but that burner looks like a Riello 40 to me. If so it is same as mine, so fine on bio blends.
-
Heading towards the scrap bin at this rate
-
Blast, I clean forgot about this.
I can't do nowt, I'm never gonna get the time to get down there and pick it up.
Sorry about that, should never had said nothing in the first place.
-
Can collect Saturday or Sunday to save it from scrap yard.

Collected the boiler tonight 180 mile round trip Banbury is a lovely place the stone built houses do set the place of
the boiler is massive think number two son has a slipped disk after lifting it in the back of the van.
The young lady and two dogs that greeted me where charming so much so that when she asked for a donation
for the church as the boiler was free I felt obliged to agree.
Will have to rearrange the bio shed to try to fit it in.
-
Donation? that was a bit cheeky after saying it was free!

I did not mind a bit Kieth it looks to be a very good boiler in good condition
thanks for arranging it for me.
Richard.
-
No problem
Yes, it was running right up to when i disconnected it a few weeks back and had a regular service history, ran that big house ok
-
Update on the boiler finely got round to running it connected a hose pipe on the bottom
of the heat exchanger with the water adjusted so a small amount was running out the top.
Modified an expansion tank for the fuel threw in a liter of bio bled the pump switched on
and it fired up only to go out belching smoke.
Added a good dash of miss fuel gave the tank a good shake purged the feed pipe and
tried again after throwing out loads of smoke shifting the bio out of the burner pipe
and lots of resets up she fired and ran like a good one.
Tank was nearly empty after ten minuets so stopped playing have to look into changing
the jet and how to up the pressure.
-
So did it really use 1 litre of fuel in 10 mins!
-
It certainly did it had a few jets with it marked as 5.68 lts an hour.
