Title: Lister Gen Set White Smoke Exhaust
Post by: Jeff_Retired on July 04, 2016, 01:49:58 AM
I am running B100 in an older Lister Petter Gen set. When starting I get a burst of black smoke then emits a barely noticeable white smoke while running. Dino diesel emits the black smoke on start up then runs smoke free as far as I can see.  Read that white smoke is an indication un burned fuel is being exhausted. Don't notice any difficulty starting or power loss compared to Dino diesel.
Was wondering if any members has experienced this and is the B100 burning this way harmful to the engine.
Thanks Jeff

Do you run the same bio in other engines without problems ?

Yes in my Ford F250 diesel but only at B30. Driven over 40,000 miles with no issues. I dry wash my bio thru wood chips followed by resin bed. Had lab tested and B100 meets ASTM standards. Don't think fuel quality is an issue.

Um, ok, I'll leave it to the Lister boys to answer as I have no experience with them.
