Title: Timing belt / bio compatibility.
Post by: Julian on April 21, 2016, 07:58:44 PM
Just had a tidy up of all the jars sitting on my little bench in the bio shed and found one I in which I put some off-cuts of timing belt immersed in bio.

I did this the last time the belt on the Disco went which, as far as I can remember, was about a year ago.

Although it was rather shredded to start with, I couldn't see any noticeable deterioration in the parts of the belt which were submerged in bio.

I had a leaking fuel primer that I didn't notice for ages and it leaked right into the timing cover and the belt was running through a bio bath at the bottom, not sure of the make, dayco I think but the bio didn't seem to bother it.
