Trying to upload a couple of pdfs. Done one, but the other refuses to upload.
I remember Keith managed to upload one when I couldn't, so is there a volunteer to have a bash at uploading for me if I email them the file?
-
I'll do it Julian, send it on over!
-
Sent.

All done!

Thanks Tony.
Other than being computer illiterate, any idea why I couldn't up load it?
-
Just tried to add links to the manuals page and neither file works!
Same problem as before, they part load and then stop ... what is it with me and pdfs?
It's late so I'm off to bed.
Appreciate any help any one can offer ... Keith, what did you do the last time this issue came up?
-
I don't know, I didn't do anything different to you, just uploaded as normal.
But I am local to the server - maybe it's a connectivity issue between it and you? Maybe after a certain time of uploading the server times out (on the LAN, it's fast of course).
-
Can you open the files on the manuals page?
-
The ML one doesn't load - link might be wrong?
-
MS won't open for me ... after a long wait I get a message saying the file is damaged, and with the ML I get a 404 message. I've noticed the symbol at the end of the ML file is different. But even if I try and open the ML file from the file page (http://www.biopowered.co.uk/wiki/File:Mono_MM_and_ML_Manual.pdf), it still won't work!
Hovering over the ML link the address bar at the bottom showed a couple of symbols after "pdf" which didn't show in edit mode! so deleting part of the url and retyping seems to have fixed that.
Even so both files still load about 400-500 KB and freeze for me.
I'm stumped!
-
I've tried from work and it loads OK. Anyone else having PDF troubles?
-
I just tried the link and opened fine for me.
-
Thanks Ross and Tony.
It must be something screwy with my PC then!
-
I'm struggling to upload a picture now. I've tried every combination i can think of to upload it on the special upload page, but it looks like its done it, then when I come to look for it, its not there. Any ideas? Ta.
-
Is it in jpeg?,last time i had trouble i had to convert to jpeg
-
Yes, it is a Jpeg. Connection speed is slow, so may be something to do with it, Always goes on a downer the minute need it fast.
-
I've had the same a few times. I think it might time out if the file is large.
If it proves too difficult, try resizing the file. 800 pixels wide should be OK for a wiki page.
-
It might be a timeout problem, however I don't know if that is the server or router or what. It does suggest there is a problem of some sort my end. Maybe the webserver (lighttpd)?
-
I've tried up loading a picture onto the special page on the wiki a few dozen times over the last couple of weeks, and It's not having it. It is a Jpeg.
Anyone got any ideas?
-
What error do you get? There was a problem that crept in with a software update which I fixed I think last week. But if you are seeing an error let me know.
Is the photo particularly big?
I'm fiddling with the wiki stylesheets at the moment so hopefully won't break anything else!
-
I don't get an error. It appears to upload, there is a percentage thing going in the bottom left hans of the screen. It reaches 100%, then the screen just stays the same. I go to look in uploaded files, and its not there. It has occurred to me that I may be looking in the wrong place.....
I'm sure the photo isn't to big, but I'll check anyway.
Of course I could be wrong........
I've just taken a look, and it says the photo is 2.57MB. The page says max size 2MB.
Does that mean that it won't load?
How do i make it smaller?
-
That'll be it - one solution if you don't have an image editor is:
http://www.picresize.com/
Otherwise I can recommend http://www.getpaint.net/ as a useful editor.
-
Captain Caveman strikes again!
I could just set the picture quality on the camera lower and retake the picture. Failing that I'll try and resize it. Thanks for the links. That getpaint one looks real handy. i might try downloading that. I've wanted a good photo editor for a while.
Cheers.

I use MS paint, just open the pic with it,then save as,job done
-
Well I managed to upload the picture. It was failing because it was to big, so I reduced it using Paintbrush. Nearly finished the page now. Thanks all.
