Wodya mean could be, wait 'til Chunder gets in.

I miss the web cam feed.
At least you could see what your missing.
-
I know what you mean, very little info coming from the field so far.
All we have as yet is there's 8 people with dirty bums, unless they have the pool up and can wash in there.

How do you know there's 8 there if no info is forthcoming?

Have you bought a new frock for this year?.

Nah, womble's in charge of the wardrobe.

Some photos from the BBB today. We found a stray horse. We think it has been abandoned, Pete and Chug are doing a grand job of looking after him.

The horse was a useful find ... but we might need a bigger barbecue.

When are you coming down Julian?
Now we've stopped filling the pool we're getting a good 3C/hr from the M67 arrangement. Still quite cold at the moment, though.

I've packed lite this year, very lite.
Should be there around 5 ish tomorrow evening, what's for dinner ?
-
I've spent this evening throwing a few bits and pieces in the ol' Casso ready for the off around lunchtime tomorrow.
Oh ye', can someone make sure that Geegee don't crap on me pitch.
-
Looks like it's going to be a great weekend so wish I was there only my first last year will be there next year see you all

I think there will be a few sore heads this morning, Vince's cider was flowing freely.

Is anybody taking a printer this year?
I've been trying to print a simple plug but my printer keeps crashing when homing and was previously of setting layers ... first real issues I've had with it so far.
Anyhow, the plug is for the sparge pipe for Lyndas bubbles in the pool. If I may I'll attach the stl file to a PM to Tony (as I know he's there and on the interweb) and perhaps it could be printed on site.
I'll try and cobble something together before I go, but this would be great as a backup.
-
Doh, just realised you can only attach files on the forum not a PM.
I'll try attaching it now it that doesn't work I'll have to email it.
-
That works OK, you can save the file out of the thread.
-
I remoted into my home computer and set 2 printing
but... it's the first thing I've set printing since I formatted so they might not print right... won;t now till I get home and it'll be too late to print more by then....
so if anyone else can print one... go for it :-)

Impressive, I'm struggling to get mine to work and it's only 2 feet away .. thanks.

Ok, panic over I've turned a wooden plug. Not very elegant but it works!
-
More lightening than I've ever seen before, over here in high Wycombe.
I'm hoping that you happy campers get through it all OK.
-
Many are still partying and avoiding going back to wet tents.
The lighting is impressive!

Jim brought his printer, sounds like a Saturday project to me.

Air system is working.
Blower runs (probably with enough force to over come 30" WG ... find out tomorrow) and shifts quite a lot of air through a meter long sparge pipe.
If any thing needs printing now it's ear defenders ... the blower is a tad noisy!

Here's my photos.

It's OK, it was quite safe. Womble, for example, used his extensive Health and Safety training only to be discovered shielding himself behind a Jerry Can of flammable liquid.

Yes it's airbags, that sequence of photos is not quite right, the one of the drum flying in the air was from a single air bag, I was to slow to catch the twin shot one (but it gives a good idea of what was happening and I'm sure someone will post the right one soon).
Julian, you make it sound reckless, we were all stood at a safe distance, honest.

M67 heater + heat exchanger coil for the pool (10m of 12mm). In practise with a 12lpm pump the discharge to the pool was 20C below the temp of the M67 water, so we ran it at 80C with 60C discharge and at peak output got a good 3 degrees an hour rise in pool water temp.

Alluminium cans are a pig to melt anyhow (they oxidise quicker than you can melt them without a pool to submerge them into) however, the burner was quite hot enough otherwise.
Maybe by next year i might even get my refractory together with a clone of the above burner? : )

I was at a beer festival (generous description) yesterday and was idley talking with a couple of mates of things to do with a chiminea and glass blowing was discussed.
Just thought with all the burners and stuff around, if that might be a fun thing to do at BBB 2016 ... how hard can it be?
Anyone any thoughts?
-
Glass blowing with an air bag that would be fun.
-
I've seen glass blowing done, at a glass factory.
Melting glass, sticking a pipe in it, and blowing down the pipe is pretty simple, from what I remember. Making something useful is quite a skill.
The glass is heated in a bowl, and then picked up with the end of the pipe. Then the glass blower props the one end of the pipe on a stand, starts puffing down the pipe, and turning it. When he wants to make it wider or narrower, he lets it cool, or heats different parts over a flame, before puffing in it again.
I'm sure Utube will throw something up. The really good glass blowers are quite bonkers, apparently. Live, work and breath glass blowing.
Oh yeah, I don't think melting down your average glass milk bottle will work. It goes from solid to liquid to quick. The glass has got to be like a thick gloop, and stay like it through a range of temperatures. What you need is glass with a high lead content.
Could be wrong about that mind, been a while.
These are the Dudes where I saw it done.
http://welshroyalcrystal.co.uk/
They had to stop production while we peckered the bridge into the industrial state away. The vibration was putting ripples in the glass :)
-
I have tried it. The type of glass is important. I used glass tube from a science dept. I also tried glass modelling using pliers etc. that was also successful, up to a point. The point being I am not an artist!

That was the impression I got, yes. :P

I used to repair and make laboratory glassware when I first started at the uni - 41 years ago.
It's a very rewarding thing to do though my work was definitely practical rather than artistic.
I reached the stage where could make Liebig condensers from borosilicate glass (internal seals are fun) - they were functional, though not very pretty :)
