Title: Ebay win.
Post by: julianf on March 20, 2015, 07:34:48 PM
No, not the mono pumps.  Ill try and convince myself that they would have gone much higher had i have bid...

But this -

The damaged motor would be of concern, were it not for the fact that i have a B4L unit somwhere.  Im assuming (hoping) that theyre the same motor.

My landrover 101 was originally fitted with a B4L (long gone) and i have a D2 (modern one) but that does not run on bio.  Ive heard that the modern D4s do, so i thought id give this ancient D4 a go.

For £25, if it all works out, ill be pleased.  Fingers crossed!

Keith,

Are you familiar with them?  I know the B4s were fitted in a lot of VW vans.

If you can get it working that's one hell of a bargin.

I assume the controls are there as thats WELL over a grands worth if it is all good, apart from the fan motor.

My (modern) D2 has some sort of microprocessor control panel attached to it, but, i understand, all this does is switch a couple of wires in the loom to get the unit running.  I think the modern units have an ECU within the device as well.

My B4 had a silver box, but, what it had it it, i dont know - it was from the late 70s, so it cant have been too 'custom'.  Pretty sure i can see the silver lump in the photos, kind of between the two end caps, under a relay or connector or something.

I should download the manual again, as it has circuit diagrams in it, IIRC.

I dont believe it to be a grands worth.  Modern D4s fetch about £300 on ebay.  Id guess this is maybe £150 worth, if it were fully working?

I think i probably still have the petrol stuff on the other computer, but thank you anyhow.

Ill see if eberspachers site has anything for the old D units.

I was comparing it to a new one not secondhand.
