Morning All,
My first post on here although I have been lurking for a while.I am looking for some advice but first a bit about myself.
I have been making bio for a couple of years now with the help of a mate( who is much cleverer than me).We are using an Appleseed processor which we converted to the GL system using a venturi and a educator from JamesRL. Other mods as well such as a condenser and a centrifuge. My friend has facilities to test at his work and it seems we are producing a good product.
I have running a 2001 Renault Kangoo van on 100% bio for around 2 years now with no issues at all,changing fuel filter and oil regularly of course. I also ran a 2002 Mercedes 220 cdi auto saloon on 100% bio for about 18 months,also with no issues.Since September 2014 I have had a 2008 Mercedes 220cdi auto which I have been running on 50% bio,also with no problems.
Now for the advice I need, I want to change the Kangoo and would like to know a similar size van that can run on 100% bio. I have talked to both Renault and Citroen who have been helpful but would only recommend 30% bio. I am sure I can do better than that as my own experience with my present van shows.
Any help and advice on later vans of this type will be much appreciated.

Hi Bill,
Welcome to the forum and wiki.
It still seems to be that pretty much anything will run bio. Some people successfully run engines with DPFs.
There's a page on the wiki where member detail their cars and any issues they've had which may help. It would be great if you could add your experiences to the list.
There are members with far more knowledge and experience than me of van types so I expect they'll be along shortly.

The 2 ltr HDI engine seems to run well on B100 I have had no bio related problems
on two Peugeot expert vans over three years and a few thousand miles.

Julian, thanks for your reply,I have looked at the wiki site as suggested, mostly cars than vans it seems but very helpful. Lots of VW so maybe a VW Caddy would be the way to go. I will post my own experience later-when I have worked out how!
Richard, thanks for the information re 2 ltr HDI engine, how old are these Peugeot Expert vans? Do you know if this engine is fitted in any other van in the range ie the Partner or the Bipper? Probably the same in the Citroen range as I believe they are very similar.

I have been running a 2006 partner for two years now with no problems.
Done 18.000 on b100.

What van do you want to run? General consensus is that any diesel engine will run on well made bio, regardless of what the main dealers may tell you.
The questions I will be asking when I next buy a car will be regarding the dpf (how it works on that particular model and, if necessary, are the re mappers currently able to disable it).

Follow the wiki link above and look at the members vehicle's running on bio. Last year I was looking at alternate vans and the vw caddy didn't have a dpf until about 2009/10 'ish. Watch out for the dpf symbol on the dash if you go looking for one.
The Peugeot /Citroen 2.0 Hdi engine goes well on bio but after about 2007 they had dpf's fitted I think.

A dpf doesn't automatically rule out a car being run on B100.

Thanks for all your helpful replies, I will try and reply to all points.
I don't really mind what make of van I buy but it needs to be around the size of the Kangoo or maybe the Bipper/Nemo. The vehicle is used daily for collections in my laundry business (incidently my oil comes from a couple of customers who run cafes and pubs).
I am not looking for a new van but as late as possible as it must be reliable as I have a driver part of the week and obviously must provide a good van.
rbdazza, thanks for your comment re DPF. If the vehicle I choose has one perhaps I can ask you for more advice.

Further to the earlier very helpful posts I have now found a replacement van that seems to fit the bill. It is a 2010 Citroen Berlingo first 600 1.6 hdi.This vehicle does not have a DPF fitted I am told.
What are your thoughts please?
Sorry that I have not yet put my experiences to date on wiki.I tried but didn't succeed.I will try again sometime although if anyone else could do it sooner I would be grateful ( see original post)

I know someone who ran a 1.6hdi, albeit not in a van but it ran perfectly on b100.
My daughter has been running a 1.4hdi on my bio for 3yrs without fuel issues and I have a 2.0hdi with 80k miles on b100.

I think that all diesels after 2008 must have dpf's fitted.

Thanks for all your advice, I have bought the Berlingo van,collecting on Thursday. I will post my experience after running it on bio for a while.
