I should've read the signs.
There was a little pool of oil below the mono pump I use to pump drums out. I frowned at this momentarily, thinking there was a slow leak around one of the joints. So, I dunked the pickup in a 60l drum of oil and turned on the mono.
What happened next took a few moments to register.
To paint a picture of the unusual sight I was greeted with, imagine a vertical 1" hose that runs about 6ft up, and how it would look if you carefully punched dozens of little holes in it all the way up so as to create a beautiful multi-faceted cascade of spraying oil. It was like a runny christmas tree in shape.
Now, the mono doesn't hang around, it pumps cold oil like it's water, so this dancing fountain of oil was making some distance inside my beautifully cleaned outbuilding.
Unfortunately, the fountain was between me and multiway adapter the mono was plugged into. I had to take the plunge, and grabbed the plug and wrenched it out.
However, in my confusion at what was happening, I pulled the plug for an unrelated pump (the water circulation pump on the reactor). So, it carried on, pumping oil over me, until I could get the other one out.
Needless to say I spent the whole rest of the evening cleaning both myself and the outbuilding. I was NOT amused.
The discharge hose I'd been meaning to replace for some time, as it was an old black ribbed hose and brittle from years of veg oil. The rats had clearly figured out they could knaw holes in it for a little oily treat, and worked there way down from the top to the bottom!

Ain't they little scallywags.....
I've finally stopped them from chewing straight up through my floor, after 4 years of combat.
I stuffed a beer bottle, neck down, through the hole, so they cant perch on the wheel now, to take up their assault position.

my furry friends are in for a shock soon. i have 100mm celotex all around the coach,including the floor. once i move into the yurt that is all coming out. i wonder if they will follow me up the field to the yurt? fewer places to hide up there. of course they will.

Possibly, no probably used by politicians.
