Anyone that has visited my shed over the last couple of years will know it's a pit of utter filth. Well, I had an epiphany moment yesterday, where the amount of filth was unbearable.
So, I've cleaned it. And the misses cleaned it (she's a keeper - getting in there with the spiders to wipe surfaces down with IPA!). It took all day, chiselling the years of layers of accumulated compacted sawdust off the concrete floor and wiping stuff down with IPA. Turns out old cement is good for wicking up spilt bio and oil too. :)
Now I can see the floor, it's amazing! Arms and back hurt though!

Selfimposed penance for buying diesel?
-
It was only 5 litres!
Also I have nearly 200l of red diesel, but that was a gift ;) (The M67 heater runs on it).
-
i need to add another storage drum so i may have to have a move around and clean up...
-
Having been in Tony's shed I can say that it was probably the filthiest I've been in. Well done you for seeing the light...and for many a year.... seeing the floor ;D
-
Mmmmmmmm, I feel I'm being shamed into cleaning my shed out and the garage is getting so full of oil and empty 20lt tin drums I can't get any more in there.

Mark used to bang on about how messy his old shed was (I've not seen the new one) but I can safely say it wasn't a patch on mine.
Jim gives the impression his is layers of sawdust too, though I've not seen it for comparison.
I feel like I could potentially even weld in there now without the whole thing going up.

Thinking of making the sheds cosy for the winter ?

Look, evidence!

Wow! I remember when I was there a few years ago I got stuck to 2 surfaces and could not move hahah!
Looks clean enough to host a dinner party in there now! ;D
-
Yes we had to chisel Arash out and set up a rescue winch haha

There are so many layers a geologist could use'm for dating, there the pre bio, concrete, early bio, cat litter, middle bio, cardboard and late bio, saw dust with sprinklings of cement.
Dry cement REALLY soaks up small spills an stops that sticky/tackness under foot.

It was the underfoot squidgyness that finally got me. It got to the stage that I was wearing old trainers with carrier bags in them to stop it soaking into socks.
-
oh.
erm.
i went through the trainers stage.
then i remembered my wellies ;D

I've got scalpens on the floor of my shed. It does soak in and solidify quite nicely.
-
I've got a very tasteful, blue vinyl in my shed and any drips get wiped up straight away ... stays lovely and clean, don't know what all the fuss is about.

That's a bit posh, having carvings in the floor!

Got a mate like that. Really anal about it. The only thing with veg on was his bag filters.
So the mice ate them... 8)

Ouch, not anal!
There are very sticky areas ... low shelf where oil settling barrels sit is about ¼" deep in polymerised oil. I don't walk on that bit so it doesn't need to be clean.

The new one started out clean, I even have some of Julian's tasteful blue lino on the floor, the only problem is I can only see about two square meters of it (the shed is 18ft x 10ft) the rest is covered in empty tins, qubies and drums, I must have a clear out.
-
I'm clean I am.
Fresh newspaper down before I brew and sometimes (mostly really) after I open the wrong valve or knock over my jam jar settling for the fallout test. Have to or wifey tell me off.
-
I won't mention the dead grass trail though from the cubie racks down the garden to the shed.
-

I can better that, 12' x10' with about 3 square feet of open space, as you say cubies, cubies and shite.

So you are also a master at having to move everything five times to get to where you need to be.

Master? I've got a friggin' Masters degree in the subject.

Sounds like one of those puzzles completed by moving tiles into the one available slot. I just use the garden for extended storage when the missus isn't looking ;)
