oops sorry only just noticed this thanks for the welcome :-[
I've been searching for a thread which asked if anyone had checked with sepa if the rules re collecting and wtn's were the same in Scotland as England. Sepa have replied to me but I can't find the thread to post it. Anyone know the thread ?

Hiya, was that a thread here or on the Veg Oil Diesel site?
I remember one on VOD asking about it but can't find it.

Hi Tony, I tried searching the vod forum as well but can't find it.Anyway the reply from my local SEPA office was;
Many thanks for your enquiry below.
I can confirm that similarly to the Environment Agency, as you are a private individual and intend to manufacture biodiesel for your own use, you are not considered an establishment or an undertaking, and therefore you would not be required to register an exemption from waste management licensing with SEPA
Further, I can confirm that you are only required to register as a waste carrier if you transport controlled waste in the course of your business or in any other way for profit. However, a waste transfer note will need to be completed if you, as a private individual, are collecting oil or fat from commercial premises
