No one likes a boom and a bang more than me but I think we would have the local constabulary round in a flash (geddit?) if we tried them. I am considering 2x tesla coils that rock to music:

i could help with the tesla coils :D

I was going to mention you, Bob.
What sort of cash would a couple of units like the ones in the video cost to build? I mean, if you did them 'skratcher style' rather than with a credit card?

I thought you would Bob, you used to make them did you not?
I think next year will be multi fuel jet engine and 2 tesla coils rocking out!!

warning - some of them have got to be fatal : /
-
Aye, I see that.
I think Thailand a similar population to ours, a third of the number of road users, and the same fatality rate. Anyones guess what the serious injury rate is, probably ten times. I never actually witnessed a fatal accident there, but have seen so many crashes and injurys.
A few months ago it was national news that a British WW11 bomb had been unearthed in BKK. Two days later it was national news that it had exploded in a scrap recyclers in BKK, while they were cutting it up with oxycetalyne.
Couldn't make it up...........

Oh that is amazing. Never seen anything like it :) I wonder how they get them to go straight up as opposed to flying off sideways? Fantastic bit of human ingenuity there :)

I used to build Tesla coils, started with a little 300W NST one that put out 1.2MV @ about 100khz. I gave up when I'd graduated to two industrial microwave transformers in antiphase (6kW) because things were constantly catching fire, either the spark gap or the primary cap - they used to go with one hell of a bang. Set fire to the lawn once too.
I always wanted to make a solid state switched one :)
