whats this worth?
its up for sale
need to make an offer!
I am looking for interest in my 18v Dewalt XRP kit. (this is the Heavy duty kit and not the cheaper plastic versions) It comes with two batteries 2.0AH LITHIUM ION one is less than 2 months old, the 2nd is 12 months old. It also comes with two battery chargers, I purchased this kit brand new and it has always been looked after really well/serviced. I am in no rush to sell this but i am considering upgrading. I am not interested in breaking the set AT ALL so please dont ask.

I'm guessing that none of those will be less than £100 new. The lesser version of the drill is £100, minimum. That's what I paid for mine.
All that lot, new could be over £1200?
Looks as though, if he's that well kitted up, then some of the stuff could have been worked hard, but that doesn't matter too much, it's quality kit, and looks to have been well looked after.
Taking into account that there is presumably no guarantee on it, I'd say.....
......Work out new price, and offer a shade over half, for starters, going no more than three quarters. Not worth three quarters of new, IMO.
A bit less than three quarters, max.

plus how good is a 18v circular saw? and jigsaw?
-
Is it yours Paul? Do all the various bits work?
I would be interested in it.
-
If they are the top notch kit, I'd say, pretty good. At least the jigsaw should be. Circular saws do seem to take a lot of power to drive them, even 240v ones struggle sometimes, but then I'm pretty ham fisted with the things.
Any feed back on them on screwfix?

Do you know the person selling the kit? Are they in your neck of the woods?

They are not the same, the above are the new xr range with slide on batteries, the ones RM is on about are the XRP range that have the push in batteries. New ones are shite, made in China, older ones are made in Germany. I had a new set of dewalts and they didn't last 2 weeks, on the combi the hammer action is not working any more and the impact driver, the bit holder is no longer concentric, its spinning out of true and messes up the screws you are trying to drive in.
Don't waste your money on new dewalt, or bosch. If you want decent kit look at Milwaukee or Hilti.
Its why people like me still want the older stuff.
-
It's a job to judge really. Why would a carpenter want an impact driver, or a mechanic want a reciprocating saw? Is the guard missing off the Angle grinder, or is that a polishing tool?
Strikes me a little bit as though it may the kit of some one like a mobile home or camper van builder, in which case, they may have done a lot of work, and never really got dirty.
Just seems an odd assortment.

Got ya. Cheers for the heads up. Milwaukee is some serious kit. Not struck on Hilti myself.

typical DIYer probably do abit of all sorts
-
maybe some one that does signs or gates and barriers etc..
They come in kits and cost £600-700 new.
-
He must be making some money to flog that lot just to upgrade, if it's working OK.............
-
Impact drivers are only any use to chippies, tried to screw in a plastic 1 gang back plate with mine and it exploded into several pieces and almost had the same velocity as secondary fragmentation hahaha ;D
It certainly woke me up!

Ahh, so he's had a deal on the lot, not gone a bought them all separately. Makes sense.

just been digging about
hereford housing
Grounds Maintenance

Right ok, should all be working fine then, don't buy a kettle off him though, its probably shagged as its been used 8 hours a day 5 days a week hahahaha ;D

Not a bad deal. Around half the price of buying individually, by the looks.
£325 to £375 is probably about top whack for the ones in the OP, in that case.

Hilti tool porn!!!! :P :P

Love the way they advertise it, it's obviously going to turn it's owner into a sexual tyrannosaurus.
And at over a grand, it ought to.
-
I want the concrete nailer, it takes .27 rimfire cartridges!
-
We had one of them years ago. There is also one which will shoot nails into steel, for putting block ties into steel uprights. Always kind of terrified me.
-
The hilti ones do that, you just choose the right colour cartridges and right fixings. When we do a 1st fix on fire alarm cable, you have to drill holes every 30cm in concrete or steel and secure cable clips. The nailers would make short work of it.

I have the circular saw and it is very useful in some situations cuts well in ply till the battery goes! In my opinion the final price will depend on the condition and number of batteries as they are not cheap to replace also if you have a use for all the tools. I would not go above £300 as I would only use some of the tools and selling the unused ones without battery and charger would not raise much. Better to buy the ones you want individually from the bay?
-
the only chordless that i find truly useful is a hammer drill. have been using the makita for a number of years and find them very reliable. If you shop around you can buy for under £100 new.
If i have lots of cuts to do that have to be square (say for fitted wardrobes) will get them cut at b&q,4 or 5 cuts free and machine cuts them exactly to size and i have a mains circular but the best chordless tool is a Irwin medium cut handsaw £ 5.99.
At the end of the day mains operated tools are far better, you could always buy a generator if it really is not possible to run an extension.
-
Loads of sites don't allow mains powered tools any more. It depends what you are doing, recip saw is very handy for cutting access holes, grinder is great for removing wheel clamps ;D etc....
Cordless sds is brilliant, you just need spare batteries. The little 10.8v drill drivers are great for light work.
-

My best tools are mains (and generally a 2 man lift... : )
I only use tools at home so ive never really had the desire to suffer the inconveniences of batteries.
I understand site is different - Is the site ban on mains just logistics, or safety?
-
Some is overzealous H&S, some of it is having 30 blokes working in a small area fighting over sockets and trailing leads all over the place....
Have you tried using your mains powered tools up a ladder with your head in a void? If you trip you might strangle yourself with the power leads.
If you are working outside there may not be any power, you can't drag a genny big enough to run a big sds with you as well as ladders and all the other kit.
They all have their place, I have a mains sds drill and a battery one. If you have a workshop then mains power makes sense.
-
Exactly what Arash said, better batteries than the inconveniece of leads everywhere, two batteries for every tool helps.
