My brother in law wants to put some of my bio in his 04 Vivaro dti van. I told him he can have some bio to try but he should run it 50/50 bio and diesel. Am I being too cautious? I have a 98 Corsa 1.5d which I run on 100% bio and a 56 Vectra cdti with a dpf that I run on 30%, both with no problems, so I'm not worried about the quality of my fuel. I'd just rather not take a risk with someone else's van.

I cant offer technical comments, but...
Im happy to share my bio, but i do make it very clear that its on the other persons head. Ive never sold a single drop, so anything from me has always been a freebie with no warranty given nor implied.
I guess what im saying is that youre talking about "rather not risk it..." and im saying you should make sure that, whatever happens, the car owner knows its their risk and *not* yours.
If they then choose not to use it, well, so be it - but at least you know it wont cause family tensions then! : )

I've done 300 miles on b100 in my 54 plate 1.7 crdt astra, no ill effects yet. I'll be back to let you know when I come home on another recovery truck 8)
I've never shared or sold my bio yet. Never had the surplus at the same time as the opportunity. Same as you though I'd have reservations about giving it to someone with a common rail, dpf, etc to run 100%

If something goes wrong, you will get the blame, it's as simple as that. Even if it's nothing to do with the fuel.
I gave a friend 25l of bio to try in his Pug 406. The turbo blew (a tankful of diesel after using bio) but the biodiesel was and is still blamed to this day.

I guarantee my bio to all those who have had it. It's a million times better than any biodiesel you could buy from a commercial outlet.
What I cant guarantee is the serviceability and quality of the vehicle it goes into.

Good luck distinguishing between the two in the eyes of the user.

It's not for me to distinguish Tony. Anybody who wants to use biodiesel should do some research first. The risk is down to the end user.
However, I did refuse to supply to my brother, FOC of course, because he had a Ford. If he had had a VAG ...there would have been no problems.

Exactly - that's the problem!

The only person who I have supplied some bio to who was only ever running diesel was my brother in law. His car packed up soon after and, whilst not actually blaming me, they made such a deal of it that I refused to supply them again no matter what vehicle they had.
Funnily enough, I have supplied fuel over the years to at least ten members on here and VOD who were already running bio or veg and nobody has ever reported any issue with it

I have a Trafic 1.9 dci which i assume is the same engine bar the badge.
I can get mine to run on b60 with just a noticable lack of power on acceleration which i'm hoping the 2 ehn voodoo stuff will cure.
I do a mix of town and motorway driving and return about 30 overall though i do carry quite a bit of gear.
Did 1300 miles last week so bio saves me a fortune!

I've used Mark, Nigelb and your bio and can't fault any of them!

Thanks - I'll stick to the 50/50 plan then! My bro in law spends half his time in pubs what with being a single man and on a pool team, so I'm hoping he'll turn up a supply of oil for me in exchange for the bio.

I did a bit of research on the dti engine, told him my bro in law he should run it 50/50, and what does he do? Turns up in his Navarra instead. I put 25L of bio in the tank and told him to top it up with diesel. On the bright side, he's done some asking around in pubs he drinks in and his mates who work in kitchens and he's already found two places that will let him have their oil for free. I'm going to need a bigger processor!

I've had no problems with your fuel Jules, far from it, the cars have always seamed to run better on yours than mine.
