Title: TV Request - Running a car on Peanut Oil
Post by: LizzieB on April 25, 2014, 10:59:23 AM
Hello

I hope you might be able to help me. I work for Ricochet TV and I am organising some filming for a terrestrial TV Channel. My colleague Lizzie wrote a similar post late last year but we had unfortunately had to postpone the filming.

I am interested in finding someone with a car that can be powered by peanut oil with a view to carrying out a short bit of filming in May, potentially sometime the week beginning the 5th.

I would love to hear from anybody that might be interested in taking part or would like to find out more.

If you are interested please call 01273 224800 or email kate.south@ricochet.co.uk

Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing from you.

Kate

More or less anyone with a twin tank system (where they start and stop on another fuel) could run on nut oil.
A smaller number of people have cars that will start on vegetable (nut) oil alone.

Do you need the car to run on nut oil, or start AND run on nut oil?

My new car will do it. It will run on anything!

I was going to do this before the Delica blew.  From my understanding last time around, it's just oil into the tank, drive around a bit to demonstrate that it has enough energy to propel a car.  Sounds like fun!

A real test would be to drive around the south of france for a week, I wonder if they'd go for that?

You have a good point, but you would of cause need a full support crew.

Well of course I'll need a full support team and one of them Winnibago fings for kipping in.

It's beginning to look like a mobile BBB, love it.

Besides all the jest, has any one contacted the nice lady ... there must be a veg runner who can help.

Kate, it might help if you advised in which part of the country is this going to take place?  Ricochet are based in Brighton, so can we assume somewhere near the South coast?
