just discovered a handy app for the paranoid. found it after watching click on the bbc news channel erlier today. the onne featured is called lightbeam. i downloaded the chrome version called collusion. gives you a graph of all/most of the connections when you look at a website. some sights link to lots of sites you wouldnt expect.

I might try some of them. I run DoNotTrackMe App in Chrome. Some days it stops thousands of tracking attempts. I also run Adblock, which has been one of the best things I've done.
The Adblock in chrome is a bit clunky, and I managed to turn it up too high on some sites and loose the text, so I turned it off.
I still get ads relevant to the searches I've made, so it's obviously not brilliant. It has reduced the number of cookies installed though.
100 or so, down from 600 or so when I run antispyware.
