I used similar stuff to make my centrifuge.
Not sure the stuff I had was the best available, the rod that uses flux seem better. Has it's limitations though ... only really any good on horizontal runs. Up side it that you can do things like solder copper to aluminium.
Worth having some around for repairs etc.

I used something very similar to solder copper to copper in the late 60's, it had melting temperature of 360c.
Another case of nothing new.
