Title: Car advice.
Post by: Oilybloke on September 29, 2013, 10:44:17 AM
My sister (living in northern France, middle of nowhere) has about £5k to spend on a reliable & economical diesel car, that must have 4WD. She doesn't like people carriers, but was fond of a Frontera......so something along those lines. Any suggestions?

I'd suggest a Disco, really piratical, great in the snow and cheap for parts (via the internet) and fairly easy to fix, but they're not the most relyable car you could buy.

She wanted reliable and economical which kinds of rules out most Land Rover products - neither of mine score that well on economy or reliabilty (at this very moment the Range Rover needs a new pressure switch for the brake booster pump)

Suzuki, economical, easy to repair and will go anywhere, has a small wheelbase. tested quite a few diffrent makes on a environment impact study over 6 months in the spanish outback. pajero and the Suzuki were the best. only bad point about the Suzuki is not great on motorway, comfort and road noise are not its strong point.
