Chug gets the Lister running after sitting in a field unloved for a year.

M67 army heater on biodiesel, bringing water to the boil (plus a bit of soap to clean the drum up with). Thanks for the suggests that I should hop in for a bath (nonsense, I've been "drywashing" and that works fine... right?)

Stephen's ingenious air burner, that appears to burn pretty much anything flammable.

The Womble was the only one brave enough to try the burner on Methanol. Not quite as fur singeing as we expected!

They don't make a diesel KA,
I did explain to Marly (chug's daughter) that it ran on devil juice and this was jusst not exepable,
but she didn't care.
I couldn't say too much due to one of our own turning up in a petrol mondao,
in my mind this is the person that should have had threats of persicution not me.

Those wombles are surprisingly hard to set light to, as it turns out! Even if they are holding cans of Methanol.

Ken phoned me to say he had them, I haven't had the chance to pop round his yet.
Might be a few days as the wife is starting showing signs of labor.
Cheers for the bits chap
Shame I never made it this year the weather looked great.

Vince and one of his many containers of cider - I think that is 'Man cider' rather than 'Girly cider' next to him

This was one of the best BBB's ever due to the fact that more people took on board the ethos of the event and mucked in and helped out with tidying rubbish, washing up etc, which makes it much more relaxing for us.
Special thanks to Tash for the curry and cakes, Rosie (Mrs tron) for the wonderful chillis, Vin for the delicious cider and novel burner and Steve for the flame and heat devices and to everyone who brought stuff to give away, share or demo thank you, this is what it's all about.
Roll on the next one!
Now lets have some pictures!
-
That was the plan. Glad you got to enjoy it as much as us this year Chug.
-
glad it all went well. the next one will be be down here. provisional date is the weekend of 23/24/25 august. i am almost in america as pete pointed out last year. 5 acre field so as long as it isnt too wet plenty of space for caravans tents 4x4s if the field is to wet there is a camp/caravan site in the village. jules parked there last year and brought the caravan down on the saturday morning.

A little bit of worry at the bottom of the kettle surviving the intense heat. The steel is glowing a bit...
Id really like to know more about these two (or is it the same one?) burners.
They sound a bit like the CK WMO boiler conversion. I understand Stephen isnt on the forum, so im wondering how i can learn more?
-
Errr ... attend the BBB (then I wouldn't have unnecessarly brought the plumbers delight press!)
-
I've asked Stephen if he can provide a parts list for us, it's so beautifully simple and effective.
I should post up video of it too.

and apparantly all the parts are off the shelf too, with a choice of sizes, think he was on a size 8 nozzle... and hienz bake bean tin, think there thicker :)

Im wondering how much air it needs.
The turk i built ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgv8AYjIfjM ) was pretty fearsome, but needed too much air to be viable. And, of course, had the usual re-fueling issues.
-
Basicaly it's the same as a paint sprayer, it just sucks and sprays out fuel instead of paint, could try adapting an old paint sprayer gun, maybe just need to change nozzle size, maybe it'll work as standard.

i think what i will remeber the most is the illegal radio station, chug 106 FM, awesome lol
;)

I forgot to add Stephen's text about the parts used for this:
The nozzle is a delavan siphon nozzle in one of there adaptors. There are various sizes depending on how much you want to burn an hour.
They are £22.85 for the nozzle and £22.85 for the adaptor 9.95 postage, all+ vat (min order size £50 excluding postage and vat) they are on about a 3 week delivery.
The other bits were just a pressure regulator and gauge + valve . Simple, oh don't forget the bean can hinez I think :)
