James has kindly volunteered to assist with the technical running of biopowered, which we're grateful to accept - so please join us in welcoming him as site admin. :)

Welcome James.
How do we go about banning smilies?
-
Welcome James,
How do we go about making smilies compulsory? ;)
-
As you can see, admin here already have a clear, agreed direction. ;D
-
Does this mean that if Tony croaks, the forum has the technical knowledge to keep going?
-
Yes, so long as his Mrs doesn't let the kids unplug the server ;D
-
Suddenly I don't feel quite so safe going to the BBB

James is a great guy. He was an admin on VOD practically since it started--not sure what happened, but he's not anymore....
Good choice for admin here... 8)

Thanks for the vote of confidence HCII. I think I started as an admin on VOD about 10 years ago - that makes me feel old! I stepped down when I stopped using the site.
While I can't say I'm a Linux ninja like Tony, I should be able to recover the site if it all goes pear shaped.

Ah, so Tony's a Linux Ninja is he.
Did I mention I can't get the laptop to connect wirelessly in Linux ... Tony will be avoiding me all weekend now.

C'mon Julian, you don't need me, the internet knows everything if you ask it nicely :) (That's how to give the impression of a ninja, btw - I'd be a bit stuck without google)

Been asking very nicely and politely but still have no wireless. I tried Mint. Had to mess about quite a lot to get the thing to dual boot and then spent a very long time mucking about with the wireless. Eventually followed some instructions I found as a result of asking nicely and hey, it worked, I had wireless. Downside was that every time I tried to open a programme the computer crashed. Did this twice, reloading Mint messing about with partsions which still seem a bit like black magic to me.
Still asking very nicely Ubuntu seemed to be a more popular version with lots more support information. So I removed Mint played with black magic again and loaded Ubuntu ... really ugly and horrid colours compaired with Mint. Yet again struggled to get the thing to dual boot and yes sod's law comes into play ... no wireless. I've got more instructions to try but don't at the moment have the time to do it.
Quite enjoy messing around like this but it's a bit like a blind man navigating the labyrinths.
Don't worry I'm only there for the Saturday and promise not to bring it up.
