I'm after some cheap 205l clamp top steel drums. Place by me wants £22 for them which seems a lot?
RM - I seem to remember you had somewhere by you that did them pretty cheap?
Anyone travelling around for the BBB that passes my way or could meet somewhere off the M5, M6 or M42 that circle Birmingham. I'm near to Dudley.
Sadly I can't make the BBB this year (again) - it always seems to fall on someones birthday I've got to go out for.

Try contacting Keef on here, he often has drums of various descriptions available. He's not local to you, but where there's a will there's a way.
-
I can do you a couple at £10 each but since city link stopped taking them, transport will be the problem.
I can get them as far as north London (NW4 via M25, M4, A406) next weekend.
-
I was considering finally getting a WVO filtering system set up. I have everything I need really except the drums. There's some in Llanelli, so perhaps some members courier service might be able to help you and I out with some.

Problem is the size eh Brett. Not many have vans.
I go to the Gower in my van every now and again surfing so that would be OK to pick a few up but probably won't be there for a few months at least.
Might just have to fork out for some locally if nothing comes up from Keefs offer :(
-
I have a few in derby if you can get that far

ok first question is when you say clamptop do you actually need them to seal air tight?
-
Yea ideally as they are for storage of raw oil (fill up drum through a sieve) I'm emptying and getting rid of a whole load of tins and yoghurt tubs full that are clogging up the side of the house...
-
the guy i know may have some but there is no rubber seals in them, its a barrel a lid and a clamp only...
-
Thanks for the offer Richard - I'll keep it in mind. It's about 50 mins from where I work but 90 mins from home - plus traffic :(
-
Can they be sealed with quick round of silicon in the lid, left to dry?

If it helps I could meet you at Burton I have two types a standard ones at £5.00
and a heavy duty ones with two bungs on the top and one one the bottom at £8.00
-
That could be worthwhile Richard - Thanks. Will test later if 2 barrels will fit in my Golf!
Do the standard ones have any bungs in at all? The idea is to remove lid and pour in through a sieve for speed of transfer. Seal it up for storage. Then use the rotary pump with the lid on through the 2" hole to get it back out when needed.
RM Thanks for the details! Will keep this in mind also.

the standard ones have no bungs in
The heavy duty ones have a 2" on the lid and a 2" on the bottom
with a much stronger clip band
-
OK cool. Are they clean?
How many have you got and could you get more to Burton? I might make the trip in my van if so, and keep hold of some for Brett if he's interested.
I'm just trying another avenue out (my work!) but don't think they will have any spare.
-
I have two of each at the moment but the lids are interchangeable
and yes they are clean
The very thought of it ME supplying dirty drums
