Well it is almost complete. I haven't actually tested it with water yet. It was to late yesterday, and it pouring with rain today, so can't be bothered.
The tank on the right is a pre heat and drying tank, there is a Yuri Geller diffuser in it.
The valves and pipes are arranged so I can circulate the oil in the heating tank, or the processor, using the one pump.
There is an immersion heater in the processor, its round the back, you cant see it in the pics.
Little bit of wiring to do, and a few temp gauges, then after a batch or two I will insulate it, so long as no problems show up.

Looking good.
There's no venturi, so what pulls vapour through the radiator? Not withstanding that, I'd be very interested to see how the car rad performs.
-
Maybe I am wrong, but I think once the radiator starts cooling the meth laden air, the natural flow should take it through.
There is a vent in the lid to allow fresh air in.

The vent should be after the condeser, that way no meths vapor should be releaced.
A venturi is what pushes the vapors through the condenser, it's also good for pulling the methoxide in.

Looking good!
You planning on putting a turk under that settling drum? Looks well placed for it.
You don't need a venturi for demething as the methanol vapour expansion pushes it through the condenser - though having one does speed the process up a bit. :)

Welldone GM! Nice welding there. You will be making some bio now!
-
I can see the benefit of having the vent coming out after the condenser now. I might modify that a bit. If I do have trouble due to the lack of a venturi, I may fit a small computer fan in there somewhere, to blow it on through. I'm not spending another cent on this thing till I get some diesel out of it, even if it isn't best quality.
Turk is going under the right hand drum. I never thought of using it as a settling drum. I don't think it would work, because there would be to much oil left in it.
I'm not fussed about settling at the moment. I'll either decant into a 205 litre drum, or 25 litre drums, and just let it settle like that, and leave a bit at the bottom when I fill up. I'll do something a bit better at a later date.
Just need chems from the BBB.

Tooting my trumpet.

For some odd reason, the metal looks rusty around the heater flange. It isn't its just the odd light.

Did you catch the pigeon that shat all over your nice weld?

PAH! Craftsman having a go at the apprentice, no wonder everyone goes into computers these days. ::)
That is not a good photo. To be fair, i did have a dozen or so holes in it, and a few of them were right there.
I did a lot of test runs to set the mig up. That was welded on number two setting, 0.6mm wire. The weld is slightly proud. On number three setting, the weld looked a lot better, and had a lot better penetration, but it was slightly undercutting at the edges. If I welded faster, it was OK, but I just cannot weld at that speed.
The penetration is good, you can see a nice clear line inside, where it is just starting to burn through. Main thing is, I've pressurised it, and it is perfectly sealed. (Crosses fingers and hopes it stays that way)

Don't take it to heart ... ask him who did the major welding on his caravan with an engine.

I didn't know I had a Caravan with and engine.

It was a submarine for a while wasn't it?

I meant KH and he knows it, he's just trying to cloud the issue with lame comments about your dinghy.

What size is your pump and pipe work GM?
-
I think the pump is 70 LPM. The pipe work is 22mm. I thought about going for 28mm, but that creates its own set of problems. A mate of mine made the bends for me, and doesn't have a bender for 28mm. The valves are a good bit more expensive, as are the fittings, and I don't have a big enough drill.
So all in all, although I would have liked to use 28mm, I decided on 22. It will give me a chance to learn the ropes, I can see that it won't be long before I'm thinking about building another one anyway................
