Would I be right in thinking that Squidward has morphed into Aliis Volat propriis, AKA RM?
-
Seems he's Lord of the Flies now though.
I dare not suggest a deodorant can plus a lighter as he'll burn the place down ;)

If you have an air pistol, you can fire it at them without any pellets in it. The compressed air itself stuns them.
Might fit better with your dirty harry desires? : )
...as a kid, i had an archer fish - id stun the flies with compressed air from the pistol, chill them in the fridge (at the back, so noone noticed!) and then put them in the above water vegetation on a split layer aquarium - they would 'wake up' and then the archer fish would notice them

I thought firing an air pistol with the pellet damaged them, or is that another bloke-down-the-pub tale?
-
Cor, there's a whole page on it

No mention of my BSA Magnum 240 though!

Quote from the article.
I once had a P1 that dieseled a lot, until Don Walker at Beeman had me dry-fire it on full power for several shots. The problem went away, and the seal is still in there seven years later.
So what happens to a gun when it diesels?
-
Does that mean the oil in it ignites under pressure?

That would make sense.

PHP's are ok, springers not so good as it damages the springs and the piston.
I used to have an air rifle back home that was accurate enough to shoot flies landing on the wall in the garden! ;D

Dieseling is when you over lube the barrel and the lead pellet ignites the excess lube, I guess by friction.

My .22 air rifle will hit a weighted piece of string at 40 foot, at least 75% of the time. Not quite sure if the 25% misses is me or the gun. Its got an exhaust clamp holding the barrel onto the stock...........

Interesting... "The magnum 240 has become a true collectible and is getting very difficult to find now in excellent condition"
I think mine is still wrapped in an oily rag in the loft somewhere, guess I'll hang onto it for another decade before cashing it in then!

Looks a nice gun, bit of a pig to shoot accurately by the sound of it.
If it wasn't getting dark, I'd go and have a few shots, got the urge now. maybe tomorrow.
-
It was a bit, the barrel was solidly mounted to the bottom half of the gun but the sight rail was part of the top half, the hinged cocking mechanism - so when locked back down was never quite in the same place in relation to the barrel every time due to a little left/right slack on the hinge/locking mechanism.

Trawling rifle and pistol websites now. Big money on some of them. Should look after mine better.

Well, i've got onto reading about shooting bunnys, when I hear the distinctive squeal of a bunny in danger outside my window. Take a look out, and two of the cats have got a baby bunny under attack. Quite funny how the cats snarl and growl at each other, till the bunny moves a whisker, then jump on it. Just as one is about to try and kill it, the other cat will spag it across the head.
The four cats have probably 100 plus acres to hunt on, numerous bunnys, and they still end up arguing over the same one.
The evil creatures will torture the bunny all night, I might go out and shoot it in a bit, it's doing my head in. I've shouted, bellowed and kicked at the cats, they just look at me like I'm off my head. There is no way I'm picking up the flea riddled bunny and taking it indoors.
Oh well, the dominant male has turned up, given the other two cats a good hiding, and is now sat under the caravan, growling like a tiger, chewing happily on the bunny.

Some moneys worth there. Is that an infra red torch on the top of the scope?
-
think so, its my boys he paid 400 notes for it...
-
Nice scope on it too! Looks like a high powered torch on top rather than a laser.
