...that because you've run your car on homebrew for so long, that if you had to fill with a tank of diesel, that it might break it?
-
I'm scared that just looking at the vehicle might break something at the moment. I'm to scared to pee in case something drops off.
How do you apply for the no return Mars trip? It's looking more tempting all the time..........:P
-
I'm scared that filling it up with diesel might break me
-
I'm with Jules, it frightens me just thinking about it.
-
Heh we're all scared on the wallet damage (I'd rather walk!) but what about the mechanical aspect?
-
I gotta say, the thing just doesn't feel right on Dino. Gets stuck in a flat spot in high gears, where as on veg it just pulls through without having to change down.
I can't say I worry about damaging the motor, I certainly wouldn't be put off using more Dino, if it was half the price.
-
I did a full tank yesterday and filled up again this morning, only half a tank left now and it was all on petrol! :'(

I know, think you know someone then you find out they're a "petrol user" and wonder how they afford that kind of habit. I'm shocked and appalled.

Ban him, Ban him, Ban him.
I'm a sensitive Womble and am deeply traumatised by his post.

Jeep runs crap on pump diesel...
Jeep runs crap all the bloody time.............

Is it the mind playing tricks, or do most engines (at least mine, with at least 100k on all of them) go way better with more than 50% veg? Beyond 95% veg they can lose a little pep (obviously if the supply is limited with standard lines in cold weather that's an issue, as is cold oil dragged through a filter) but there is the added benefit of loads of extra low-down torque - there is a steep hill which I can never manage in third, yet on veg it's never any bother. In comparison with running good veg, on diesel all engines seem to fade when asked to lug hard.
-
I was a little short on veg a few weeks ago and had to top up with diesel on the way home. The bus felt like it had a little more power although that was probably imagination, it was definitely a little more clattery than usual.
Agree with most folk here, the thought of filling up with more than a few litres makes my wallet shudder.

friend of mine has said when running 80% veg / dino ratio his landy goes like stink, more acceleration for over taking etc...
i always in my mind do the calculation when on long journeys of how much it would cost to fill a 72 ltr tank with paid for diesel, not sure on the maths but roughly £100 notes in diesel, on busy weeks thats what i could use for work and play, this thought wakes you up for sure! how lucky us oilers are...
-
I have still not got my processor up and running :( (leaks etc last things to do) and the other day I filled our land cruiser and fiesta £135 worth :'( it ruined my day especially as I had 60 litres of WVO in the back I had just picked up for free
-
Jeez chill out girls, :-* :-* my surf croaked it and now driving my brothers mondeo which is petrol, any way the firm I work for pay the fuel!
Plus I gave away all my collections remember....
Any how picking up another surf this week end! ;D

ive gotten to the point where, when i see another landrover on the road (which is every, aprox, 3 mins of driving in devon) i wonder how the hell they manage to afford to keep it there on dino.
i kind of cant see why everyone isnt driving small, high efficiency, hatchbacks now.
...i think im just way out of touch?

The owners are prolly poor hard up farmers surviving on handouts form the EU and other subsidies.

They're probably running on the WVO you wished you were collecting ;D

I had a little snigger today when I pulled into a tax station near Trumpet (a place to live that would suit you Pops) to buy a sandwich and a coffee. Woman behind the counter asked me "which pump" thinking I'd filled up. It did make me laugh...told her "sorry love I don't buy fuel" ;D I left her with a very puzzled look on her face.

I have no problem with that (I'm an ex biker), sometimes we have to pay for our fun.

That's my favourite. Sticking a fiver or so in the jerry can after filling up in the middle of nowhere. The look on their face gets even better when I tell them that the 5 litres I've just bought should last me a fortnight.

Probably best to cancel the order and get a diesel!

WTF do you want an engine like that on 19ft boat for, are you using it to tow oil tankers into port?
Inboard, outboard, shaft or leg, mind you the boat's far to small for a shaft unless it's on a "V" box?

i remember when i was building boats we did a 28 foot fast fisher, made the plug and mould on site, it had hydro fiols on the back it would lift the back end out the water and skim across the top, we test drove it on the river severn, it flew 8)
