I have a whole load of MOD or MOD 'style' jerry cans that ive acquired over the years, mainly from boot sales.
Theyre all pretty much the same....
...or so you would think!
I have one of those clip on nozzle things, like this -

(i removed the plastic ages ago, as it stops it glugging)
Anyhow, it fits some of the cans perfectly, with no leaking, but others, it either wont clip on to (the cam locking doesn't seem to pass the high point) or it clips on fine, but leaks.
Im thinking this is just the way of things, and that i should flog all the cans i have that dont mate with the spout on ebay, save them getting mixed in all the time.
But...
Do you think its worth trying some other spouts first? I cant think one will fit them all, but might it be worth a go, i wonder?

From personnal experience of wearing more bio than what was going in to the tank using these things i found that on the jerry cans themselves, the 2 metal loops that the nozzle arms slide into need to be tapped down very slightly so the seal is gripped a bit tighter.
I found a large flat blade screwdriver, tapped gently with a Birmingham screwdriver works very well.

Ive just come in (from the cold)
Ive tested about 10-off my cans. The nozzle seals fine on about 50% of them (as tested by lung powered compressed air). The other 50% fail in a variety of different ways, inc not being able to get the nozzel onto the top at all (as the can spout is too wide), or the cam not working, or them just not sealing well.
Ill try your trick on the ones that simply didnt seal well - thank you.

You can get bio resistant seals for them but what i find annoying is the cost, nearly as much as a can!

I think the seals i have were about 50p or a quid each. Ive had them ever since i started making bio, and ive had no issues yet.
I have spare seals in my took kit in the landrover 101, but ive never needed them.
