Title: VA4
Post by: nigelb on March 23, 2013, 08:09:44 PM
I thought I'd use this forum to see if I could drum up a bit more interest for VA4 on Stars Wars Day (May the 4th) around Worcestershire and Herefordshire. This year it's a bit of driving, a challenge, then more of the same. Maximum points whins the copper candle stick (venturi).

Entry fee is a nominal £10. Payable in advance please. All fees will be donated to a cancer charity.

It would be nice to get some on board who have been threatening to come since the first one. ;D

Come on..get your fingers out. If you don't bring the stuff on the list you will be seriously disadvantged. You'll need to get the stuff on the day if you don't. You'll find right from the outset what you'll need it all for.

In front of the hotel is a Beefeater Grill. Be wary when approaching the Premier Inn on the dual carriageway. The filter into the carpark from the road is short, on a slight bend (left hand) and the down side of a slight hill. If you over shoot it's about 1/4mile to a roundabout before you can turn back and have another go at it.

My advise is familiarise yourself on street view.

Good luck!

Nigel
Don't want to spoil the surprise but is it possible to have a few bits of info so I can plan the day around other commitments?

Roughly how many miles will be done?
How far will the end be from the start?
What time will it finish?
Is it OK to bring the dog?
Will we need boots/ will we be walking far?

I remember that launch...Team Tron really loaded up with water and the rocket went a "massive" 7 metres. The launch cradle took a bit of collateral damage on that one as well. Too much weight at the front end.

Can I say a huge thanks to all those who turned up for the revamped VA.

The style of this years event worked so well and it was far more relaxing for Jayne and myself regarding the scoring and we took on board the comments from last years event about making it more social...and I think we acheived that in spades.

The challenges worked really well dispite the visible disappointment from RM when the first envelope was opened and it was shopping list. Sorry Paul! ;)

The two massive successes as far as we are concerned were the "Time Trial" and the "Rocket Launching." Mind you Bandits first launch was a tad scary. It nearly took out the bride and groom!!!!!!! ;D

I'll post up the stats when I get a moment and Tom's already working on vids and photos.

A quick note to say that the donations have been made from the proceeds of VA4 and VA4.1

A total of £180 was raised from the two events and from this £90 was gift aided to Coping with Cancer and £90 was gift aided to Cancer Research.

Thankyou all very much for attending and donating.

BTW no expenses or running costs were taken out for these events.
