Title: Water valet tanks keep going for daft money
Post by: Tony on March 17, 2013, 11:02:31 AM: Keep turning up on eBay and I keep thinking they would make compact bio-storage tanks, then they go for silly money:

I do have a 600l IBC and it will fit in the outbuilding but it'll use a huge amount of space - could do with something a little more vertical. If anyone has any bright ideas I'm all ears! (I keep looking out for 600l steel tanks too - ideally no deeper front-back than 2' to fit in amongst all the other junk!

Post by: Julian on March 17, 2013, 11:25:59 AM: I had similar thoughts (fitting down the side of the house) shortly after I started making bio. I found one for £60.00 but I had to drive to Bath to collect it!

Keep an eye open for ex garage, haulage, plant or grounds maintenance kit. They use that proportion of tank but in steel for storing bulk engine and hydraulic oil.

What an utter clown of a thing to dismantle. I wonder what seals it inside.

I think they are having a bit of a giraffe, I'd almost want to be paid to move that thing.

No need to try and cram my 600l IBC in the outbuilding now. Though it can't sit on our patio forever... will have to hide it up the side of the house and keep it for emergency oil storage :)

I was also going to suggest cutting and welding a 6x4x2 heating oil tank - ours was free from freecycle, but they often sell on ebay for less than a fiver also.

Post by: Tony on April 08, 2013, 10:45:15 AM: 400l is the equivalent of a couple of months of fuel use, fine for a final storage tank. My maximum batch size is ~375l in a 500l processor anyway.

Apparently he is spoken for something about JamesRL in the back of a van?

I looked for a tank for a while on eBay and couldn't believe the price then I found a bargain on VOD classifieds didnt think to look there did you :)

amazing what you can use it for ;)

years ago, I used 1 length of angle iron, 4 pop rivets and nothing else to hold a tail lift in the bag of a van... outlasted the van!

No no no no, I SAW what he was up to in the back of his van, I wasn't a participant more a voyeur so to speak, but I didn't really look.
