Title: Anyone electrical on here?
Post by: therecklessengineer on March 15, 2013, 04:31:34 PM
I feel like banging my head against a brick wall.

I'm trying to source 1 gang, 2 way, double pole light switches.

The only things I can find are the 20A jobs for night storage heaters complete with neon lights or a 13A fuse. I need something that'll look OK as a domestic light switch.

I've scoured the usual suspects of RS and Screwfix.

Anyone got any bright ideas on where to look?

Do you mean a change over switch ... where you have three or more switches controlling one circuit?

Nope - I mean a single switch that will switch both live and neutral. But in a light switch.

Hmm, see what you mean.  This is the closest I could find, but it's 20 amp ...

If all else fails you could try fitting a white rocker switch into a standard blanking plate.

Thanks Julian,

A DP 'appliance' switch works, but it's a bit clunky and horrible as a light switch.

It seems MK make a dual pole 'module' which can be fitted into a 1 gang faceplate. £6.50 each! Still, I'm not paying for it. :P

I've had a look around, quite a few 20A+ ones but nothing subtle.  Strange.

you won't get a double pole light switch as most lighting switch points only have line wires there is no need for double pole.

How's this   http://www.gwsupplies.co.uk/p4047/mk-logic-1gang-1-way-dp-switch-10amp.htm

MK part number K4876

10A double pole one way switch - and it looks just like a normal light switch.

Here's a listing for four of them for a current price 99p on eBay with 26hrs to go - brand new in the wrapper
